Tour de Suisse

May 12, 2008

I saw the motivation for this one coming from a mile away. My wife had run a Mother’s Day jog and I cheered her on. When I got home, it seemed as if my running shoes laced themselves to my feet. It was hot, and there wasn’t a breath of air, so I tried to find a path that was mostly in the woods. Settled on ‘Den danske Schweiz’ (the Danish Switzerland), so-named for its ’steep’ slopes. The forest is nice at any time of year, but on a warm day it is especially refreshing.

Tour de Suisse – 6.1 km

Head towards Islandsvej, up the stairs and take a left. Pass the waterworks, up the hill and turn right on the road just before the horsefarm. If you need to catch your breath on this stretch, slow down to admire the sheep. Slip into the woods just after the farmhouse and continue on the path under the train bridge. Take a right and head back to Ørholm and the waterworks along the path that follows the tracks. Cross the road, follow the stream, cross the bridge and head home by the usual route.
